Average vs median salary in Australia
Average full-time ordinary earnings were $2,051.10 a week in November 2025 — about $106,657 a year. The median full-time wage is lower at $1,741 a week (roughly $90,500), and across all employees including part-time it is $1,425 a week (about $74,100). The average sits above the median because a small number of very high earners pull it up, so the median is the better guide to typical pay. Source: Australian Bureau of Statistics.
